Magpies' Elliott set to miss another week
AFL: Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott won't return to play Richmond on Thursday night as he continues to recover from a persistent ankle injury.
Coach Nathan Buckley confirmed yesterday Elliott would train this week in a bid to push for selection next week against Sydney.
The Pies will also be without Travis Varcoe against the Tigers after he accepted a one-match suspension.
Varcoe accepted his ban for a high bump on Bulldog Luke Dahlhaus.
Buckley named James Aish, who was a late withdrawal last Friday night with a virus, and Tim Broomhead as possible inclusions.
"Broomy's form has been really good," Buckley said.
"He's always enticed us as selectors because we love what he brings to the table. We know he's ready."
Meanwhile, Melbourne's Bernie Vince has been sanctioned for striking Saint Nathan Wright and will miss a game through suspension.
The Demons could also be without star forward Jesse Hogan for the clash with Carlton at the MCG on Sunday.
Hogan did not train yesterday and was on crutches earlier in the week after rolling his ankle in the victory over St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on the weekend.
Coach Simon Goodwin said both Hogan and ruckman Max Gawn, who was restricted to walking laps at training, will both be available to face the Blues.
Carlton's Levi Casboult (rough conduct), Port Adelaide's Hamish Hartlett (striking), Fremantle's Michael Walters and Cam McCarthy and Geelong's Zach Tuohy (melee) have all accepted fines.
