"I've always had a passion for babies and young children and having five children of my own, I have a pretty good understanding of the needs of young families," Linda said.

"Mainly Music is the perfect avenue for me to serve our community.

"I delight in engaging with the little ones and watching their confidence grow and skills grow from week to week."

Mum of three Emily Baumann said she started coming when her eldest was two-and-a-half and she had just had her second child.

The benefits Emily sees is in the developing of the relationships with the people here.

"My children are with me or my mum the majority of the time so it is good to see them with other adults and other kids as well," she said.

"We have always done lots of playgroups and Mainly Music is one of my favourites."

Emily said the whole family loves music.

"Getting them to listen to the instructions I think has been really helpful when they have gone into kindy and daycare settings," she siad.

"This is very structured - they have to listen and respond. I think it is really good for their development.

"I always have fun coming here - and the food is amazing - you can't go wrong.

"They really care about making it a magical experience for the kids.

"I have changed my workdays so I can come here.

"My husband Gavin has brought the kids as well and he even gets into it."

Linda said she was supported by a team of caring people.

"We feel strongly about providing an excellent service at a very low cost by giving our time voluntarily," she said.

"Early childhood educators often comment to me about the many beneficial developmental and learning opportunities they detect in our sessions and I couldn't agree more.

"Thirty or forty minutes of dancing, rolling, clapping, singing, counting, twisting, using simple instruments seems like pure fun and yet prepares them in a multitude of ways for their schooling years."

Mainly Music is aimed at six months to five years.

The program is based around a musical experience that combines good old fashioned rhymes, hand-on actions and newly-written songs designed to get the children interacting with their parent/ carer and each other.
