Maisie still confident on group

COMMENTS doubting the purpose of a Maryborough citizen’s group have not deterred Maisie Moller from putting her idea to the people of Maryborough, the retired school teacher said yesterday.

Ms Moller said she was surprised at the response to her idea, which she first publicly voiced in the Chronicle last week.

Several Fraser Coast residents have written letters to the editor saying similar groups in the past have not worked out.

But Ms Moller hasn’t been put off and remains optimistic about the potential for a citizen’s group. The 80-year-old Maryborough resident said the townspeople needed a voice and the group could help position Maryborough as the administrative centre for the Fraser Coast region.

She also envisaged a citizen’s group could encourage development in the city to meet Maryborough’s future needs.
