Making the mo'st of fundraising

THE BLOKES behind the bar at Hoolihans reckon they can’t wait to part with their facial hair.

But that didn’t stop them from flaunting their moustaches with the best of them yesterday as part of the pub’s end of Movember celebrations.

“We think overall we’ve raised about $1000 for Movember,” said Hoolihans manager Craig Murphy.

“It’s great because the guys got behind it – most of the staff has been growing their mos.”

Mr Murphy said that while the turn-out at yesterday’s Hoolies Mo Party was disappointing, the community had been very supportive throughout the month.

He believed there should be more fundraising for prostate cancer.

“One in five men develop prostate cancer – that’s right up there with breast cancer. There’s really not a lot of events for prostate cancer or men’s depression. It’s a bit sad.”

Mr Murphy doubted many of the staff would make their mos permanent fixtures.

“We can’t wait to get rid of them,” he laughed.
