Men accused of breaking into Torquay home with hammer

TWO Hervey Bay men accused of smashing their way into a Torquay home have been denied bail.

Daniel Mead, 33, and Stephen Carr, 22, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court via videolink on Thursday morning after they were arrested in relation to the incident on Wednesday night.

One of the men was armed with a hammer, police allege, and smashed through a glass sliding door at a Torquay home.

It is alleged that a male occupant at the home managed to restrain one of the men and the other man left the scene but was later apprehended by police.
