Man airlifted after crashing motorbike on beach

A SUNSHINE Coast man has been seriously injured in a motorbike crash at Double Island Point.

The man, aged in his twenties, was riding along the beach when he lost control of his bike and crashed on Saturday afternoon.

A doctor and paramedic treated the man on scene for multi-trauma injuries.

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted the man to Nambour General Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.

A spokesperson for the rescue service said that 10% of their missions are to to treat and airlift patients seriously injured in motor vehicle accidents.
