Man allegedly found with handgun on Esplanade

POLICE have charged a 28-year-old Urangan man for possessing a weapon after he was allegedly found with a .22 caliber handgun on Charlton Esp about 2.45am on New Year's Day.  

Hervey Bay police Acting Sergeant Brad Allen said police will allege the handgun was on the man's person.   "

He tried to hide it as he was walking," he said.  

Sgt Allen said it was alleged the man then hid the weapon in bushes.  

He will appear in court at a later date.
