Man charged with unlawful wounding after alleged stabbing

A LOCAL man has been charged with unlawful wounding after an alleged stabbing in Maryborough on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said initial information suggested an altercation took place on the corner of Walker St and Saint Clair Ave about 2pm.

A 26-year-old man allegedly sustained stab wounds to his back, arm and neck during the altercation.

Police said the victim was then transported to the Maryborough Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man is expected to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on October 1.

Police investigations are continuing.
