Man chased down street after allegedly stealing from AutoPro

A MAN was chased down the street and detained by staff members of AutoPro Hervey Bay after he allegedly left the store without paying.

Sergeant Paul Jervis said the man, 30, was allegedly captured on CCTV footage on Wednesday removing a $100 tachometer from a shelf and shoving it under his shirt.

"(Staff) chased him down and got him on Hunter St," he said.

He was charged with shop stealing and will appear in court next month.
