Man critical after 4WD rollover

A 28-YEAR-OLD man is in a critical condition following a four-wheel drive rollover at the Tuan State Forest on Monday.

The man was driving on a track in the forest, south of Maryborough, when the single vehicle crash occurred just before 8am.

It took rescuers nearly an hour to cut the Rainbow Beach man free of the vehicle, which had rolled after hitting a washout.

He was suffering severe head and chest injuries.

The AGL Action Rescue Helicopter airlifted the man to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition.

His 33 year old female passenger was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
