Man critical after stabbing
A YOUNG man is in a critical condition after being stabbed on Friday night.
His attacker is on the run.
About 7.30pm the 21-year-old victim was seen arguing with a 20-year-old man in the carport of his Degilbo Street unit.
He was then stabbed six times in the back and once in the stomach.
He was rushed to hospital with a punctured lung and internal bleeding.
By the time police arrived at the scene the 20-year-old Tinana man had fled.
Officers from Maryborough’s CIB unit searched for the man throughout the weekend.
A warrant was issued for his arrest but he had not been found at the time of the Chronicle going to print last night.
Meanwhile, a teenager is expected to front court today charged with stabbing a woman while she slept at Woolooga, south-west of Tiaro.
The Woolooga 19-year-old, who police say knew his victim, will appear in the Gympie Magistrates Court charged with wounding and burglary.
He allegedly entered the home about 10pm on Saturday and stabbed the woman in her bed.
She fought him off before fleeing to neighbours.
The woman was treated for head and neck injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.
