Man dies on fishing charter between Mackay and Yeppoon

A 59-YEAR-old man from Brisbane has died while out at sea on a fishing charter between Mackay and Yeppoon.

A Mackay police spokesman said the charter from Gladstone was fishing on Swains Reef, which is to the South East of Mackay and is about 200km offshore.

He said the man had a fit while on the boat last night and fell into the water. Fellow fishermen dived in and pulled him onto the boat but the man didn't respond to CPR.

Water police met the boat at Heron Island and retrieved the body.
