Man dies in crash at Rocky

A MAN has died after his vehicle crashed into a tree off Rockhampton Yeppoon Road, Rockhampton, early Wednesday morning.

Police are currently at the scene of the accident, which occurred between access 7 and 8 at about 6.15am.

The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was found in a serious condition after the crash and later died. The death brings the state's holiday road toll to 9.

The Rockhampton-bound lanes of the road have been shut at access 8 and motorists are being urged to find alternate routes via Emu Park or Tanby Road. Outbound traffic has been unaffected.

Rockhampton Yeppoon Road was re-opned to the public at 10.30am.

There is still heavy rainfall and plenty of water on the roads in the region, so police are urging motorists to take extra care today.

This morning's fatal car crash follows the first on Central Queensland roads yesterday.

A Brisbane dad was killed in a road crash south of Rockhampton. His two daughters were taken to hospital in a critical condition.
