Man fined $2000 instead of completing community service

A MAN who could not complete his community service orders for his serious traffic offences has been fined in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.

Michael Richard Goodall was originally sentenced to 240 hours of community service on November 16 last year.

This sentence was imposed after Goodall pleaded guilty to dangerous operation of a vehicle while more than double the legal alcohol limit.

This offence took place in Scarness in June 2012.

The court heard on Thursday Goodall had completed 50.5 hours of his community service, leaving 190.5 outstanding.

Magistrate Graeme Tatnell fined Goodall $2000 in place of having to serve the remaining hours.
