Man flees Maryborough courthouse

UPDATE: Police in Maryborough are still searching for a man who  fled the courthouse after being refused bail.

Michael McGregor Franklin, 24, who was in court for driving with a disqualified licence was locked in the dock after his bail was denied but he leapt over the back, raced down the stairs and ran towards the band hall.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Jeanette Grigoris gave chase but could not nab him.

Mr Franklin had been remanded in custody and had his matter adjourned until October 24 before he escaped.

He is described as having collar-length blonde hair, is wearing a Queensland maroons rugby league jersey and may be barefoot.

Anyone who sees a man matching the description of the escapee, should phone their local police station.
