Man jailed for groping teen girl
COUNSELLING for pedophilic thoughts was not enough to stop former security guard Scott Corey Lucas from abusing a 13-year-old girl at Currimundi.
The 51-year-old will spend the next two months in prison for sticking his hand inside the girl's shirt and groping her during an incident some time between December 2011 and January 2012.
Crown prosecutor Greg Cummings said the charges had come after the girl's father learned of the incident some time after it had occurred.
Defence lawyer John McDonald his client was remorseful for his actions.
Maroochydore District Court on Monday heard Lucas had sought counselling for pedophilic thoughts before the incident.
"He had recognised he was struggling with issues," Mr McDonald said.
He said Lucas was a good provider for his family and had worked as a security guard at health facilities.
Judge Leanne Clare noted Lucas had sought treatment but had yielded to temptation.
She said there had been a heavy psychological impact on the victim.
"Her confident in other people has been shattered," Judge Clare said.
Lucas was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended after two months.
