Man jailed over drunken armed gang attack

AN ARMED man who threatened a family and tried to smash through their Cooloola Cove home will stay in jail after appearing in Gympie District Court this week.

The court heard 25-year-old Travis Terrence Carsburg and two other men, all intoxicated, went looking for a youngster they believed damaged one of their cars late on July 19.

Outside the home Carsburg began yelling, threatening to kill the occupants inside and kicked so hard at the screen door that a woman on the other side was struck in the stomach.

The following day, Carsburg was arrested at his home where he was found with marijuana and drug-related utensils.

Barrister P Richards said the three months his client had spent in jail since his arrest, which was his first time in custody, had been a real wake up call.

Carsburg pleaded guilty to 11 charges, including assault, break and enter, property damage and stealing.

He was sentenced to three years jail with a parole release date of January 20 next year.
