Man killed after farm machinery accident near Gin Gin

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into a freak accident near Gin Gin, where a 51-year-old man was crushed to death by a piece of machinery.

Bundaberg Police Acting Inspector Joe Hildred said a Triple Zero call came in about 2.15pm today, with reports that the man was trapped under the farming machinery along Bowman's Rd, Moolboolaman.

"It appears while negotiating a hairpin bend on the road, sometime later the machine has left the road, a 966A Caterpillar front loader earth mover, and has rolled, pinning the driver," he said.

Acting Inspector Hildred said by the time emergency services arrived on scene, the man was dead.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch and Workplace Health and Safety officers were advised, and the forensic crash unit from Maryborough was called to investigate.

"He was working with his son just prior to the incident occurring," Acting Inspector Hildred said.

The man was believed to have been from the Moolboolaman area.
