Man killed in freak Gold Coast accident

A MAN has tragically died after his 4WD accidentally rolled over him at a home in Coomera today.

Police and paramedics were called to the home on Madison Dr just after midday where the man, 64, was killed.

He was trying to unhook a caravan from his four wheel drive when the car began rolling forward and tragically crushed him.

Senior Sergeant Marc Kimber believes the man lost his footing and got trapped under the vehicle before crushing him.

"It was a terrible accident," he said.

Neighbours heard the commotion and rushed to the home to pull to the vehicle off his body but the man had already died.

The man's wife then came out of the home and found her husband trapped under the car.

The man is from Western Australia and was house sitting.

Neighbour Andrew Maddicks said he heard people screaming for help after the man was run over.

Police and the forensic crash unit are investigating.
