Man on child sex charges

A MAN accused of sexually assaulting three girls aged 12, 11 and eight, has been committed to stand trial in the Maryborough District Court.

The 39-year-old Maryborough man allegedly indecently dealt with his 11-year-old niece on two occasions between October 2008 and August 2009 and exposed the child to an indecent act on an unknown date between June and September 2009.

The girl’s 12-year-old friend was also an alleged victim.

The man is accused of indecently dealing with the child five times between June and September 2009 and exposing the child to an indecent act in the same time period.

An eight-year-old girl is the youngest alleged victim of the man. He is accused of indecently assaulting her at his Fort Street home in September.

Nine witnesses gave evidence during committal proceedings in Maryborough Magistrates Court this week.

The parents of the alleged victims described their daughters becoming upset and moody during and after the period the assaults were alleged to have happened.

Two charges of possessing child exploitation material have also been laid against the man.

Police allege a disc of images and a disc containing a video were found in the man’s bedroom.

The man appeared in the court in custody and entered pleas of not guilty to all charges.

He was remanded in custody until his District Court trial.
