Man pays girls to clean naked

A 59-YEAR-OLD Maryborough man who paid young girls up to $300 each to clean his house naked has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

Terry William Arnold cried into his hands as the sordid details of 33 indecent treatment charges were revealed to the Maryborough District Court yesterday.

Crown prosecutor Ron Swanwick said the offences involved three girls under the age of 16 – one as young as eight – and took place over a number of months from 2005 to 2006.

He said that on numerous occasions two of the girls were paid “extraordinary” amounts of money to take off their clothes when they visited his Maryborough home.

He would also supply them with cigarettes and alcohol.

Mr Swanwick described Arnold’s actions as a betrayal of trust.

“They would come to his house and clean for him,” he said.

Defence barrister Lars Falcongreen told the court Arnold was remorseful and had expressed earlier in the day that there weren’t “enough words in the dictionary to describe my regret”.

Judge Hugh Botting sentenced Arnold to three years’ imprisonment, suspended after one year, on the 25 charges involving the girls under the age of 16.

He sentenced him to 12 months’ probation on the remaining charges involving the girl under the age of 12.

He declared 455 days pre-sentence custody as time served.
