8am: THE community is reacting to the news of an attempted child abduction in Emu Park after a "40-year-old man" reportedly tried to lure a 14-year-old boy into his car.

Dianne Ellis said her nephew was walking home yesterday at around 5pm along Redman St.

She said the boy was on his way to football training when a car pulled right up to him.

"A 40ish year old man started yelling aggressively to him to get the f**k in the car," she said.

"Luckily his instinct was to run as fast as he could home to safety.

"What would have happened if it was a younger child?"

Ms Ellis said the man had shaggy blonde hair, was Caucasian, and appeared to be high.

She described the car as a dark grey or black hatch, with a dented front end.
