Fake gun ignites robbery
A HERVEY Bay man who allegedly held-up a Pialba store while on bail was remanded in custody yesterday.
Mark Dobson allegedly waved what appeared to be a gun at 17-year-old girl who was working behind the counter at Video Ezy before making off with a bag of money on Sunday afternoon.
The 48-year-old was charged with armed robbery and appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court yesterday morning.
The court heard he had been granted bail in the Hervey Bay District Court just last week.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance in October.
Detective Senior Constable Nick Boyle from the Hervey Bay CIB said Dobson allegedly used an “imitation pistol” in the form of a lighter to threaten the girl.
He said he allegedly made off with a small amount of money and ran through the McDonald’s carpark.
Dog squad officers found him in Main Street less than 15 minutes later.
