Man with $13,000 SPER debt jailed on string of drug charges
A 40-YEAR-old man has been sentenced to nine months jail after pleading guilty to a string of drug charges.
The Maryborough Magistrates Court heard Mark Francis Barry was found in possession of drugs and drug utensils three times between May and July.
In total, he was found with a small amount of cannabis, several used and unused needles and utensils.
Defence lawyer Travis George said Barry suffered constant pain and would inject a prescribed painkiller when the pain was severe.
Magistrate John Smith sentenced him to a total of nine months and set a parole release date of September 26.
He urged Barry to "do something constructive" about his $13,000 in SPER debts when he was released from prison.
