Mariners running out of opportunities to secure finals spot

FRASER Coast Mariners are at the point they must win most of their remaining games to reach the Sunshine Coast Rugby Union reserve grade finals.

The Mariners sit sixth on 19 points, a staggering 18 points behind Caloundra and Maleny (tied for 3rd).

Mariners coach Trent Devere said his side lost too many games early in the season, which has made Saturday's game against Caloundra vital.

"It's definitely at that point now,” he said.

"That said, there's still a lot of games left, there's still a lot of points left.”

Devere said the club's run of four away games in five weeks made the Mariners task more difficult, but not impossible.

Kick-off is at 2pm.
