Mariners to spend most of the season on the road

RUGBY: Fraser Coast Mariners will spend two-thirds of the Sunshine Coast Rugby Union reserve grade season on the road if a proposed draw is adapted with no changes.

SCRU has released a draft draw to clubs, ahead of its biggest season in years. The addition of Wynnum and Caboolture in first, reserve and Colts divisions will make for bigger competitions than ever.

The Mariners could be part of a 10-team reserve grade season, but could play only six games at its Urangan home.

The draw is still out for consideration, but the Mariners, who struggled for numbers in 2018, could end up travelling to Gympie, Nambour, the Sunshine Coast and as far as Caboolture for 12 of the proposed season's 18 weeks.
