Parts of M'boro Aquatic Centre could re-open within weeks
THE council will hand over the Maryborough Aquatic Centre back to the builders tomorrow to repair the flood damaged asset.
If the work from Win Constructions goes according to plan, some sections of the centre could be open within weeks, the council advised.
"The inspections have been completed and plans developed to replace damaged electrical, heating and filtration systems," Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said.
"At present we're working on a staged opening and hope to have some sections opened by the beginning of May," Cr O'Connell said.
"We hope that the 25 and 50 metre pools, office, canteen and amenities blocks will be opened first.
"If everything goes according to plan and there are no hiccups with delivery and no rain to interrupt us, then the whole complex should be open again in early June."
