Maryborough school rock band wins national competition

A YOUNG Maryborough pop rock band will play for more than 3000 people on Monday after taking out a national competition to perform at the annual EduTECH conference.

Four students from Riverside Christian College school band Fear the Grade will perform in front of their biggest crowd so far to open the conference.

The band had to send in a video audition for the competition, which was only open to school bands.

They discovered on Tuesday they had taken out the top spot.

Band members Liam Taylor, Jack Taylor, Benjamin White and Harmony Gill will travel with their music teacher on Monday for the show.

Lead singer Liam, a Year 11 student who also plays guitar, said the group was nervous ahead of the big show.

Fear The Grade gave a preview performance to their fellow students on Friday morning.

The group are also looking to perform at events on the Fraser Coast.

EduTECH is a three-day technology conference for the education sector.
