Maryborough Special School's Tinana Bike-A-Rama postponed

THE Maryborough Special School has suddenly had to postpone its annual Bike-A-Rama fundraiser less than three days before the big event.

Acting deputy principal Celia Watson said the school was forced to call off the Tinana Velodrome festivities planned for Saturday due to an insurance query and a double booking at the venue.

"It has only been in the last 48 hours that the decision was made to postpone the event," she said.

"There was a query over the insurance cover.

"We were not sure the insurance was going to be validated."

Mrs Watson said due to the double booking, for part of the day the school would have to operate food stalls outside the venue and would have to relocate part of its activities outside the hall.

"There was a bit of miscommunication and loose ends left dangling," she said.

"We do apologise to people for the inconvenience.

"We are looking to determine the availability of the venue before we can announce the date we are transferring the event."
