Maryborough teen takes on the world's scooter riders

COOPER Funk, JonMarco Gaydos, Dakota Schuetz, Dylan Sinclair.

Three of those names are professional scooter riders who have taken their talents in competitions across the globe and won thousands of dollars in prizemoney.

The fourth name is that of a Maryborough teenager who made a last-minute decision to compete in the Open division at the Scooter Pro Series' amateur event at The Village in Brisbane.

While Sinclair initially eyed the 16-and-under event, he and Rock Off Hervey Bay's Tim Earle discussed his options just 20 minutes before registrations closed.

"In the last 12 months he picked up sponsorship with Grit Scooters and has been working hard towards the ASA and other competition," Earle, who added he also rides for Rock Off, said.

"We discussed it and he said he really wanted to give it a go in Opens."

Sinclair blitzed the field to win the Opens, and earned entry to Sunday's Scooter Pro Series event at the Gold Coast against the industry's household names.
