Mayor shouts morning tea to locals

WHEN the mayor says he’ll shout morning tea, the older generation of Maryborough listens.

Yesterday a capacity crowd at the Maryborough City Hall joined the mayor and Fraser Coast councillors for a tradition first started back in 1992.

Those who came along were treated to a morning of fun and hospitality. Adding a new dimension to the event was a Mick Kruger look-a-like competition.

It wasn’t a case of who looked like the mayor; it was a case of drawing a picture or just making a papier maché sculpture of the mayor.

Joan Islaub, 87, from Maryborough walked off with the flowers for first prize.
