M'boro's Sussex St open again after Queens Park pipe works

MOTORISTS rejoice - Maryborough's Sussex St has been reopened to traffic at 8.30am on Friday morning after more than two months.

The street, between Adelaide and Lennox Sts, has been closed since January 20 when work on repairing stormwater pipes began.

A council spokesman said traffic was flowing  smoothly and the detour via Lennox to Kent to Adelaide St had been dismantled.

"Some minor footpath works are yet to be completed and the section through Queens Park still requires topsoiling and turfing - which will be subject to favourable weather conditions," he said.
