Lee's shed 72 kilos and running two businesses

SIX years ago Lee Spindler weighed 148kg and underwent heart surgery for a triple bypass.

Today, the Granville business owner is unrecognisable after dropping 72kg.

However, a health tragedy has struck his family again - his six-year-old granddaughter Hunter is fighting leukaemia (see here) in hospital.

Mr Spindler has thrown himself into his two new businesses, which sit side-by-side on Odessa St, to step in for his daughter and distract himself from worrying.

He credits the use of a mechanised toning table he bought second-hand and set up in his garage for his six-year weight-loss transformation

This sparked the idea for Total Image figure salon, an alternative weight-loss centre with eight different toning beds working gently on different parts of the body.

"My daughter was managing the salon but she needs to be with her daughter so I am helping out," Mr Spindler said.

"We cater for everyone, from people doing rehabilitation for injuries, people looking to lose weight, de-stress or get results toning their body with low-impact machinery.

"We have been operating for 12 months. We started in Bazaar St but had to move because of the roadworks.

"We now have 70 permanent members and we encourage more people to come and give our hour sessions a try. It is fun, easy and relaxing."

Right next door at 16 Odessa St is Granville NewLeaf Garden Club Nursery, which began as a backyard hobby when Mr Spindler was sick and has grown from an online store to a shop front.

"We have been operating for about 10 years but only moved to this land last April," he said.

"We have around 7000 plants we have grown ourselves which are sun-hardened to survive here.

"We have everything from tropical plants to natives and even nine-foot trees.

"I'll be doing the World's Greatest Shave this year for Hunter's battle with cancer, pop into the store to donate."
