MELBOURNE Cup fans were out in force across the Fraser Coast on Tuesday to see jockey Damien Oliver deliver leading trainer Gai Waterhouse her first Cup victory.

Whether it was at the local pub or club or from the office workplace, locals scurried in front of the television to cheer on their horse in the 153rd running of the race that stops a nation.

Cheers of joy filled the air by those lucky enough to back the winner, Fiorente, who edged out Red Cadeaux in a thrilling finish.
