Memorial service for three killed in highway crash

A PUBLIC memorial service will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) for three Hervey Bay residents killed in a crash on the Bruce Hwy.

Helen and Elizabeth Walker and Rex Laughton will be honoured at a service at the Botanical Gardens in Urangan at 2pm.

Friends have organised the event as a celebration of life for the trio who were tragically killed when their four-wheel drive collided with a semitrailer north of Howard on September 30.

The crash claimed the lives of five members of the Walker family, including Helen, her daughter Elizabeth and Elizabeth's long-term partner Rex.

Helen's son Robert and his partner Lily, who lived in Forest Lake, near Brisbane, also died.

A funeral for the family was held at Sumner, south of Brisbane, last week.

Tomorrow's service at the garden's bush chapel will give Hervey Bay residents who missed the funeral a chance to say their goodbyes.
