Rise and Shine with Mental as Anything at M'boro showgrounds

MENTAL as Anything will lead the line-up at flood-relief concert Rise and Shine in Maryborough on May 19.

The veteran Sydney new wave/rock group will join roots band Halfway, country solo Su Ray and cabaret performers Swing Alive at the Maryborough Showgrounds on May 19 from 1pm-5pm.

The free event is one of 10 concerts to be hosted by the State Government and the Queensland Music Festival in regions worst hit by the January floods.

Premier Campbell Newman said the event would include family activities and a free barbecue.

"It will be the perfect opportunity to take a break, reflect on the year and celebrate the Maryborough community spirit," he said.

Another Rise and Shine concert will be held in Gayndah on May 17, with country singer Gina Jeffreys headlining the event.

Rise and Shine Queensland, which tours to 10 communities across the state, is being programmed by Queensland Music Festival, led by artistic director James Morrison.
