Minor parties are keen to rattle Warren Truss’s cage

TAKING on a long-term MHR, frontbencher and former minister is a daunting prospect in a conservative electorate.

But some of the minor party candidates - particularly those backed by high-profile leaders - enthusiastically accepted the challenge and engaged the Fraser Coast community.

Local issues loomed large in readers' responses and some of the party's promises reflected that.

As in Hinkler, PUP and KAP candidates backed the Fraser Coast Opportunity plans for local infrastructure, LNP did not and ALP supported them without a dollar commitment.

Their affect on Mr Truss's strong hold on the seat remains to be seen.
