Modified mowers to put on a show in Maryborough
A DAY of fun and thrills is coming to the Fraser Coast.
The Fraser Coast Lawn Mower Racing Club will host an event on November 12 and organiser Carlie Webster says it will be a top day out for families.
"We're hoping to get a really big crowd," she said.
Ms Webster said the club was working hard to get word out in the community.
"It will be a great day," she said.
"We're trying to get it out to everyone. There will be a full canteen and toilets at the grounds."
Her son is an enthusiastic lawn mower racer and he can't wait for the event.
Ms Webster said competitors were coming from Bundaberg, Yamba and the Sunshine Coast to take part in the event, which will be near Maryborough Speedway.
On November 11, the group will be at Station Square in Maryborough, holding a raffle and letting people get up close and personal with their modified lawn mowers,
The pits will also open during the lunch break, giving people another chance to have a look at the mowers on the day.
The event will start about 9.30am and will continue until 2.30pm.
Those who attend can bring chairs and their own shade so they can watch the event in comfort.
"It's a great spectator sport," Ms Webster said.
"It will be a thrilling day of mad modified mowers."
Entry will cost $5, with kids under 12 able to enter for free.
