Viewers give Molly mini-series a thumbs up
CHANNEL 7 is on to a winner with its Molly Meldrum mini-series.
The highly promoted two-part drama, starring Samuel Johnson as the music icon, attracted 2.636 million viewers nationally, making it the top-rating program of last night.
The mini-series, which charts the rise of Meldrum and his beloved ABC series Countdown, out-rated Seven's critically acclaimed Peter Allen mini-series.
Part one of Peter Allen rated 1.33 million in the five metro cities, compared to 1.793 million metro viewers who watched part one of Molly last night.
The series was also one of the most talked about topics on social media and the show's soundtrack has already shot to number one on the iTunes albums chart.

Seven dominated the night, taking out the second and third top-rating spots with My Kitchen Rules and Seven News.
Australia's Got Talent improved while the first elimination on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! only attracted 626,000 metro viewers as the 10th most watched show of the night.
My Kitchen Rules and I'm A Celebrity continue tonight at 7.30pm. The second half of Molly airs on Sunday at 8.30pm.
