Money gurus dish up advice
THERE has never been a better time to invest in shares – but before you do be sure to seek professional advice.
That’s the opinion of two Fraser Coast finance experts who yesterday gave a no holds barred analysis of the sharemarket at Maryborough Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
Mick Toohey from Ulton Chartered Accountants and Marvin Reck from Commonwealth Financial Planning were the main guest speakers at the breakfast, themed the Masterchef Guide to the Sharemarket.
“Historically speaking, now is a great opportunity to consider buying shares,” Mr Toohey said.
“Given the fact we’re on the back of the global recession it comes down to the simple fact that there’s a good opportunity.”
Mr Toohey said an important aspect of investing in shares was remaining patient.
“It’s the time in the market – not timing the market,” he said. “Patience is the most important thing.”
He said business owners should also be aware there have been some substantial changes to superannuation.
“I think at the end of the day the main thing is that given the global financial crisis and legislative change in regards to super and investing in general, it would be prudent to seek advice whether you’ve already invested or are considering it.”
