CRICKET: Mooney fires in four Heat game wins

BETH Mooney fired into form to help Brisbane Heat secure its first Women's Big Bash League victories on the weekend.

The Hervey Bay product featured in all four Heat games in Western Australia, with big performances leading to three wins.

Brisbane lost the opening game against Perth Scorchers by just two runs.

Mooney scored 22 at the top of the order in that game, but it was the double header against Sydney Sixers where the wicket-keeper truly fired.

She blasted 57 from 46 balls in a 156-run opening stand with the electrifying Grace Harris (103 from 55) as the Heat reached 3-190.

Sydney could only get to 7-155 from 20 overs.

The Sixers batted first when they played on Sunday morning, and set the Heat 115 to win.

Brisbane did it easily, as Mooney (50 not out) and Harris (43) shared a 91-run opening stand in the successful chase.

The Heat closed out a successful weekend with victory against the Scorchers at the WACA.

Perth reached 8-119, though the Heat chased down the total with five balls to spare.

The Heat will play four home games this weekend against Renegades and Strikers.
