UPDATE: Police are focusing on a missing person case in the area after the discovery of skeletal remains on a Maryborough property.

Police said they believed the death was non-suspicious.

The remains were found on September 5 with police conducting extensive inquiries, including investigations by the Criminal Investigation Branch, scenes of crime and scientific officers.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and they were awaiting the results of scientific testing.

No further information regarding the case would be released at this time, police said.

EARLIER: More bones were found at the weekend on a Maryborough property where a human skull was unearthed on Thursday.

Detective Senior Sargent Nikki Colfs said skeletal remains had been sent away for further testing and investigations were under way.

The SES was called in on Friday to help search the property on the Bruce Hwy north of Maryborough where the remains were discovered after a bulldozing contractor had been working at the site.
