Motorcyclist dies in tree smash

A 46-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist is dead and a female pillion passenger recovering in hospital after a single-vehicle crash on the Isis Highway at the weekend.

Police said the crash happened about 10 kilometres south-west of Childers at 3.15pm on Saturday.

The Bundaberg driver was killed but the female passenger was taken to Childers Hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

It was unknown exactly how the accident happened but initial investigations found the Harley Davidson failed to negotiate a bend in the road and smashed into a tree.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
