Motorcyclists meet at Action Park
MICK Pohlmann is sure one Fraser Coast sporting venue will live up to its name tomorrow – Action Park.
The Maryborough Motorcyclists Club is hosting a club meeting at the venue, the first in almost a year.
Junior and senior riders from throughout south-east Queensland will contest between 65 and 70 events in various classes on the day.
Pohlmann, a club steward, said everything was set for a great day of racing.
“The track is looking in great shape and so it should – the boys have been working real hard on it over past nine months or so,” Pohlmann said.
“There will be no lack of quality riders in action either.”
Jace Castles, who starred in the motorbike meeting at Maryborough Speedway last Saturday night, will be one of them.
While Pohlmann said he was sure riders, such as Castles, would turn it on, he was confident the veterans of the track would be doing just the same.
People like Ron Beaver from the Sunshine Coast in the Post Classic Solo division.
“He’s been collecting his pension for years,” Pohlmann said.
“I think he’s 78 nowadays, but he’s still as keen as ever – he’s been up for a practice run already.
“People usually shocked when they discover how old Ron and they are amazed when they see him race.
“You could say that he doesn’t just turn up to make the numbers up either.
“Rest assured, he’s still very competitive.”
Action Park is on the Bruce Highway, just north of Maryborough.
Racing starts at 9am and admission is by donation.
