IT WAS a night for Team Edward last night as the vampire finally married his human love Bella Swan in the latest instalment of the highly popular Twilight series.

Breaking Dawn Part 1 attracted a huge crowd to cinemas in Hervey Bay and Maryborough to see the penultimate movie of the series.

The movies have chronicled the tempestuous love triangle between Edward, Jacob and Bella - but on Wednesday night, Edward supporters were out in force.

Twilight fan Shona Marshall was there with two friends - Amber Andersen and Abby Cockburn - and all three were delighted Edward and Bella would finally tie the knot.

"We've been waiting for it for a long time," Shona said.

"It's bigger than the royal wedding."

Rose Kordas and Sarah Woodgate were also excited to see their favourite characters return to the silver screen, while Krystelle Welch and Jessica Sharp weren't there to see either Jacob or Edward.

"We're team Alice," they said, referring to Edward's vampire sibling.
