MRP has Lyon’s boys in the clear

FREEMANTLE coach Ross Lyon was furious with a reporter who questioned his team's aggressive approach after Saturday's upset 15-point win against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

Asked about the fact Geelong players had gone down off the ball, Lyon said it was wrong to infer his players were the sole perpetrators of any aggression, and reacted angrily when asked whether he had directed them to be physical early.

"I think you are out of line because what I saw was some Dockers players go down off the ball," Lyon said.

"We have got some sore boys that had plenty of whacks. There was plenty of on and off-ball things that will probably be looked at … to elude it was one team, I can't let it go because it is incredibly disappointing."

Lyon's stance was backed up by the match review panel yesterday, which cleared Zac Dawson of any wrongdoing after looking at five incidents involving the fullback, including his match day report for striking Geelong's James Podsiadly.

Geelong's Corey Enright and Freo's Chris Mayne were the only players charged - both can accept reprimands with early guilty pleas to striking charges.
