Mum-to-be warned over drug charges

A PREGNANT Kandanga woman was told in court jail was no place to be a new mother.

Gympie Magistrate M. Baldwin warned Hillary Elisha Combo, 30, she would not be allowed to have her baby with her should she keep offending.

The bleak warning came as Combo pleaded guilty to possessing drugs and utensils, and unauthorised dealing with shop goods. Combo's brush with the law started on January 22 when she was stopped by police for a licence check.

Police could smell cannabis and a search revealed four clipseal bags, each containing a gram of cannabis, and drug utensils.

Combo made matters worse on February 13 when her debit card ran short of funds while buying fuel, and she failed to organise payment of the remaining $42.20 balance.

Mrs Baldwin extended an existing suspended sentence by a month and fined Combo $500.

Restitution of $42.20 was ordered for the stolen fuel.
