Heavy drinks curfew at Muster

A NEW late night heavy drinks curfew will be introduced at the 2010 Optus Muster and be enforced by the Liquor Licensing Commission.

Full strength beer and spirits will only be available for sale at the Muster until midnight.

After midnight only mid-strength alcohol will be available for sale.

The new laws will only affect the four Muster venues that stay open after midnight including the Muster Club, Crowbar, Muster Tavern and Blues Bar.

Apex Muster chairman Carl Green doesn't think the heavy drink curfew will have a negative impact on the Muster.

“It's no worries for the Muster,” Mr Green said.

“Splendour in the Grass (music festival) only had mid-strength on sale for the entire event and it didn't affect them at all.”

New drink tickets will also come on line at this year's Optus Muster. Instead of the usual tickets there will be three different tickets – $7 tickets for heavy spirits, $5 tickets for light spirits and beer and $3 tickets for water and soft drink.
