Negotiations continue on future of Howard's Power Park

NEGOTIATIONS to transfer Howard's Power Park are continuing between the state government and prospective buyers one year after facilities were locked.

The park, which is adjacent to the old power station building was closed in March last year due to ongoing safety concerns including sinkholes and asbestos.

The State Government and the Fraser Coast Regional Council traded the blame for the closure of the park.

Maryborough MP Bruce Saunders said the Department of Mines remained in negotiations about the future of the site.

"We've got a company vying for it and the council vying for it," Mr Saunders said.

"We're trying to hand it back to a community group, business or the council."
