Netball players to soldier on for first official fixtures

IT IS one of the few outdoor sports you can expect to see played on a wet weekend.

Netball burst to life two weeks ago for a fortnight of grading games, but today marks the much-anticipated start of the season.

The season is marked by an entirely new committee led by president Eddie Anderson, and the management team was keen to finally start the season.

"We're a totally new committee so there's been a bit of stressful adjusting to it all,” Anderson said.

"We've had two grading weeks but this will be the first official round.”

Five teams will contest the Division 1 season this year.

Bullets Nubees will face Cosmos Kryptonites, while Cosmos Eclipse take on Breakaways Bayside. Both games start at 1.30pm.

Flames Firebirds have the first-round bye.

The NetSetGo games will start Hervey Bay Netball Association's program at 8.30am, with games running until 3.45pm.
